If you want to build your own business, it is necessary some knowledge and tools. In digital marketing, it´s the same and you will see why. Here are some important tools that you will need to build your own successful online marketing business.


1.Creating a Website, a Landing Page

A Landing Page is to catch prospect’s attention to the products or information that appear on your Website.

To build a landing page you can use GetResponse or LeadPages but if you want something with more advanced features you can create a Sales Funnel with ClickFunnels (CF). With CF, you have 14-day Free trial, then it´s $97 per month.

Building a website can be a little bit confusing if you don´t have any experience but, believe me, it´s totally friendly to use by anybody, just with a little bit of practice you will be able to build one in no time.

You can build a website with no intention of getting benefits from it, but you can also obtain profit by selling affiliate products.
In that case, you will need to choose a “niche”. A niche is a specialized but profitable corner of the market, something that you are really passionate about, that has a big market to be explored and where the competition level is acceptable. For example:

Automotive parts

Sports niche

Home decoration

Kitchen’s knifes

Video games 

Pets (Cats, dogs, ferrets, etc.) There is already a lot so, create a unique and original blog.

Natural health products (Avoid the losing weight formulas, there is too much competition)

Muscle building products, supplements 

Baby’s toys, Baby’s car chair


Popular niche but in a different language/country


If you have no idea about what product/niche to choose, you can find your inspiration here: “Amazon Best Sellers”
Or, do a Google search and type in “Evergreen niches”. You’ll get a list of some niche ideas that are in demand. The more specific your niche is, the easier it will be to rank in Google, Bing etc. Instead of blogging about “soccer”, you can blog about “children’s soccer shoes”.

A website is also needed if you want to sell your own product or if you want to build a portfolio to demonstrate your professional and practical skills when looking for a new job.

There are tons of platforms to build a website, however, I recommend you to use WordPress. You can easily customize your website with themes and plugins. Most top brands use WordPress to create their websites, such as Time Magazine, Google, Facebook, Sony, Disney, LinkedIn, The New York Times, CNN, eBay, and many other.

To increase your conversion rate:

Use red or blue colors in “BUY” buttons.

Use the affiliate link in image and text.

If you promote any product from Amazon, use a link localizer, you will lose a lot of money if you don’t use one.
When a user clicks on an affiliate link, he will be redirected to his country’s Amazon store.
With Affiliate Geo target, you have to fill in the product ASIN’s from the product page and the tracking IDs from each of the country’s Amazon affiliate dashboards.
You can also use a popular tool called Geni.us.


WORDPRESS (there are 2 different WordPress domains, the .com, and the .org)



Perfect for newbies. Great for personal blogs, and sites with no commercial intention. These are the characteristics:

1. Offers free hosting, but limits your website space to 3GB.

2. Gives you a free subdomain. Something like YOURSITE.wordpress.com. If you want a customized domain, you’ll need to upgrade to a paid plan.

3. It offers a limited number of themes for you to choose from.

4. Doesn’t allow you to use any third-party plugins.

5. You can’t have your own ads on your site.



Great for those who want to have full control over their sites. It’s the perfect platform for any type of business site and professional project. These are the characteristics:

1. Doesn’t come with free hosting, You will need to buy one from HostgatorGoDaddy, Bluehost or NameCheap (explained below).

2. You will need to get a customized domain on your own. NameCheap

3. You can download any theme you want.

4. You have the freedom to install any free or premium plugin you want.

5. You can have as many ads and forms of monetization as you like.

You already created a website, chose a niche and now, what do you need to write about? Write quality consistent content, give a lot of free value, make reviews of the products you are promoting, interact with the visitors (answering their questions), create backlinks, make product’s comparisons, set up the SEO for your website, be active in the social medias and so on.

2. The Need of an Autoresponder

You will need an autoresponder to build your List of prospects and start a trusting relationship with them. Autoresponders are messages set to go out automatically. They help you automate campaigns and manage one-to-one communication with your recipients.

After collecting their email addresses, you will be able to send them Free gifts and new offers to build a connection with them.
There are many autoresponders in the market.

The most popular Autoresponders: Getresponse, Aweber and Mailchimp.

  5. Visualize what people click on the most.
  6. Uncover your top content.
  7. Identify your worst performing pages.
  8. Determine where people abandon the shopping cart.
  9. Discover if you need a mobile site.

You can also use Clickmeter. It tracks your views, clicks, conversions, target your visitors, do A/B test rotator, retargeting/remarketing and more…



4. Keywords

Keywords are very important, they drive targeted web traffic to your business for free. Using the right keywords, your business will flourish.

Keywords are the words or phrases that Internet users type into the search box of a search engine, such as Google, to find what they are looking for.
Some keywords get thousands of unique searches a day while others get a couple of hundred.

You can write a keyword in the Google search bar and it will automatically give you a lot of keywords related to it.

There is a good free tool online from Google called Keyword Planner to help you in researching keywords relevant to your business.

5. Customize your Domain Name and Host

If you want to have your own domain name for your website, you can buy one at NameCheap or GoDaddy.
Your website’s host in HostGator or BlueHost. (A host is a
 place where you keep all the data, the space that you rent out to have your business in. It’s like a house, where your domain’s name is your street name address)



6.Shorten your URL

This is very useful when you want a simple and short URL for your customers to click on. Simply, go to Bitly or Adf.ly and put the URL you want to shorten and it will produce a smaller one.
You can also install the “Pretty Link” plugin into your WordPress.

7. Hire a Freelancer 

If you feel that you need some extra support to build your online business, as for example to write a flawless SEO article or to create your business’s logo or some other matters, check on Fiverr or Upwork to hire a freelancer that will do these things for you for a very competitive price.
